Grotek Pro Silicate is derived from potassium silicate and potassium chloride, and the potassium silicate is where both elements come from. So the 0-0-4 on the front describes the potash, and the silicon comes with it from the same salt. The silicon is the reason the product exists. Mixing Pro Silicate Without Crashing Your Reservoir Pro-Silicate is a strong base and must never go into nutrient concentrates. Add it to the tank of water first, before anything else. Then check pH and bring it to between 5.5 and 6.5, agitate the tank, and only then add the rest of the program. Reverse that sequence and the silicate reacts with concentrated calcium and phosphate, then drops out as a gel you cannot redissolve.
