Additional Features Hydro-Xtend water dispersion technology optimizes use and uptake of water and nutrients for growing plants. Pre-drilled holes eliminate guesswork for seed and clone placement. Designed to work with three-stage VidaWool™ system to maximize efficient transplant of plugs into blocks, and blocks into slabs. Does not have to be stored in a climate-controlled environment. VidaWool plugs are made from a minimum of 70% recycled content and are designed to efficiently hold and use water, complementing growing operations. VidaWool is 100% produced and supported in North America to give you confidence in your mineral wool growing media’s quality and availability. Plug Shape & Insertion Zone VidaWool plugs are circular for seamless transitioning to grow blocks and come predrilled for rapid, precise seed or clone placement. Other plugs are slit, weakening the plug’s structure, which can lead to breakage and material waste. VidaWool with Hydro-Xtend Plug Shape and Insertion Zone Precise seed or clone placement. Predrilled hole. Greater plant stability. Plug shape optimized for root growth and seamless transition. Other rock wool growing media Precut slit in other growing media decreases plant stability and makes plugs prone to breakage. Square shape compresses media when transitioning into blocks. Plug corners create variation in root growth. Plug Transitioning Just pick–and place. That’s all it takes to transition a VidaWool plug to a block. VidaWool plugs are round for a perfect fit every time. Other growing media require labor-intensive cutting or scoring before transitioning. Don’t hassle with trying to force a square plug into a round hole. Switch to VidaWool. VidaWool with Hydro-Xtend Plug Transitioning When ready to transition, just pick and place the VidaWool plugs. VidaWool plugs are round for a perfect fit. Other rock wool growing media Other plugs require cutting or ripping before transitioning. Square plugs not designed to fit into blocks. Requires additional effort to force a square plug into a round hole, compressing surrounding wool and reducing uniformity of the growing media. User Guide for VidaWool Starter Plugs VidaWool starter plugs were developed and are backed by a team of scientists, engineers, researchers, and experts in mineral wool and rock wool products. Third-party analysts and experts validate VidaWool performance and practices, to ensure you can maximize the features of every plug and get your plants started off right. Follow these steps for proper use of VidaWool starter plugs. Store VidaWool starter plugs do not need to be housed in a climate-controlled environment but should be kept dry until use. Store pallets no more than two high to avoid damage. Saturate and condition Saturate plugs by submerging for up to 15 minutes in a nutrient solution adjusted to a pH of 5.8–6.2. Place seeds or clones Using the pre-drilled hole as your guide, place seeds or clones into the holes to a depth of 3/4 to 1 inch. This will allow ample room for root growth. Maintain moisture To optimize growing conditions, water VidaWool starter plugs when the plugs look or feel dry (irrigation intervals vary based on the environmental conditions of the growing setup). Graduate to blocks When plants are ready, they can be efficiently transplanted to VidaWool blocks. The round shape of VidaWool plugs makes it easy. Just pick and place in the block. Note: VidaWool starter plugs resist punctures and maintain handling integrity of 2.4 lbf when wet, but should still be handled with care.
